Gimme Some Colour!
If you haven't see the May issue of Martha Stewart Living this month you are missing out! Especially if you like color. I personally love color. So much that I sometimes I need to make a point of buying black items of clothing to mix it up. Some great finds in Living this month:
Glassybaby- first of all I love the name! This glass is so cool and comes in 70 colours. Also the sales of many of them go towards great causes such as cancer research at University of Washington Medical Center. Can be used for votives or drinking. http://www.glassybaby.com/
Colored Keds! Remember keds? I had a red pair, white pair, navy pair, pink pair and khaki pair. Now in more than 35 colours the Keds Champion is also offering design your own version. www.keds.com Also come in mens and childrens.
Great way to start the summer! Get Happy!

MARKET SEASON HAS STARTED! SEE ME IN WILLIAMSBURG
Have you been to Artists and Fleas? http://www.artistsandfleas.com/
It's a great market in Williamsburg on the weekends, indoor and out.
My first visit there will be Sunday April 11th.
I hope you stop by and see my new products. It's been a long, long winter and I have been sewing up a nor'easter in my studio. Andy, the bf, has been patient with all of my fabric and products hanging everywhere. Give a holla' to my boy as they say.
A few of the things you will find are:
And remember everything is one of a kind and made in NYC by me!
Everything at the Artists and Fleas is handmade by independent artists. Open Every Saturday & Sunday 12-8pm. 129 N. 6th Street (between Bedford & Berry) Public Transportation: L Train to Bedford; G Train to Metropolitan; JMZ to Broadway.

Fabric and houseware stores in Sydney.
Back from Sydney for a week now, how time flies. I wanted to point out a few more fabulous spots.
Cheesoon and Fitzgerald
387 Crown St
Surry Hills
cheesoonfitzgerald.com
This store sells Marimekko fabric off the bolt along with other manufacturers. They also sell lots of cool housewares you won't find in other stores. The guys in here were quite nice and pulled out their 2 big baskets of remnants for me to sort thru. I purchased myself some great off cuts of Marimekko (BF helped me choose) so keep an eye out for some new product. Some of these will also be used for the patchwork quilt I am starting. Of course right now just collecting swatches for this.
Cloth- great store that does their own design and printing. Very simple monochromatic or 2 colour contrast prints. The women in here were super nice and have awesome product. I picked up some cool fabric covered buttons which I can't wait to use on some bags.
clothshop
35 buckingham street
surry hills nsw 2010
cloth@clothfabric.com
Birdtextile 380 Cleveland St Surry Hills Syndey http://www.birdtextile.com.au/
My dream store. Fabric, clothes and housewares. I can spend hours in this store but prefer to own my own. This wonderful store is all about sustainability in design.
All of these shops have so inspired me! A pretty successful trip...now to start sewing!
Before I go, one more pic, I met this handsome one outside Birdtextile.

Sunny in Sydney
I am currently down under in Sydney Australia. The weather is fantastic and I have been touring the neighborhoods. Today I visited Paddington and their large outdoor market. I cruised up and down Oxford St and veered off to the side streets and back. Mardi Gras is occuring today however it is not the same Mardi Gras as we have in the states, it is more similar to Gay Life Pride Parade Day in NYC. So many fantastic costumes. The parade starts in Taylor Square at Oxford St. Oxford has lots of great boutiques, the majority are spendy but I took lots of pictures.
Many houses in Paddington have some Victorian influence. Also reminds me of the south. Anybody see Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil?
