Glamour vs Domino

So many of you may have seen or heard of the magazine Domino. It was an awesome, fabulous and inspiring publication. Well in the great recession of 2009 Domino was one of the unlucky ones to close down. I don't know why  because as a consumer/fashion designer there is no other magazine comparable.
Well, Conde Nast thought that Glamour is. So to fulfill the rest of my Domino Subscription Prescription they started sending me Glamour. For real? Seriously?
Ugh.
So I usually just recycle Glamour. Have no interest. Well yesterday at the gym I decided to give it a shot, I don't really need to use my brain. I made lemonade out of lemons.  So I see how to moisturize, Charlize Theron's gorgeous tips, skip the man advice crap (maybe I should read that) and then I come onto a happy colourful page! It was a page full of colourful nail polish and it did make me feel cheery, on this 16 degrees feels like 1 degree day. YES A 1 DEGREE DAY!

So go to your local Sephora or CVS or $20.00 mani pedi place
and get happy. Pink, orange, yellow nails...it's Friday why not?

Don't have a 2010 calendar yet? Check out this.

Rational Animal is an animal awareness group via the media. They produced the coolest calendar for 2010 as a fundraiser; animals and musicians and the fashions these guys are wearing are the best. You may have seen it recommended in Rolling Stone or US Weekly online, the NY Post and the NY Daily News. Cool classic musicians, rock stars! Pete Townsend, Roger Waters, Michael Jackson and my fave Billie Holiday in the kitchen with her dog. I bought 2, my brother and brother in law both liked them.
They now are having a special so get em while you can! http://www.rational-animal.org/calendar

Holiday Madness....

I do love Christmas so much my sister has nick named me Tracey Christmas.
We received a nice snowfall in NYC a few days before Christmas, what can be better than that....oh 3 new kids in my family at Christmas Eve dinner this year and they are all so so cute. I was almost tempted to start designing children's wear...maybe..... just wrap skirts in the spring. 2010 is starting in 4 days and I am kicking it off with my brand new pink daily planner from Santa Claus. I try and try to schedule everything in the berry but I still like the hard copy. Let's hope for good fortune in 2010 and girls wrap skirts......a brand new decade!

Coco before Chanel

I finally got to see Coco before Chanel. It was wonderful! Of course seeing it in the old Paris Theatre in NYC added to the experience.  If you like history and clothing and a bit of a sad story you will like this. Many people have commented that  the movie does not cover alot of her time in a fashion house. They seem to not realise the title, Coco before Chanel.  It starts off with her and her sister being dropped off at an orphanage at the age of 9 and 10.  They go thru the struggles of being very very poor working for the extremely affluent. Constant battle of never being accepted by the wealthy. They each fall in love with a wealthy man but because they are poor these men will never marry them. Coco becomes popular because of the hats she makes and always opposed tight and binding clothing which was worn at the turn of the century. She is sassy and speaks her mind and becomes the innovator of Womens Sportswear.    Audrey Tautou does a fantastic job, who couldn't love her!
